Trama
La sorella di Enrico VIII, Maria, deve sposare il vecchio re di Francia anche se è innamorata del capitano delle guardie Charles Brandon. Ma se il regale marito Luigi XII morisse, le promettono, potrà unirsi all'uomo che ama. Rimasta finalmente vedova, è il duca di Buckingham a ostacolare il suo sogno d'amore. L'illustre blasonato vorrebbe infatti la sua mano e ricorre persino ai sicari per liberarsi di Brandon.
